What led you to study Human Resources Management?

I enrolled in this program because I have a passion for understanding how organizations function and how to effectively manage people. It's worth it for me because I believe it will open up opportunities for me to make a positive impact in the workplace.

What has been your favourite course so far?

My favorite course so far has been Employee Relations because it provided practical insights into managing workplace dynamics and fostering positive employee interactions through case studies.

And your least favourite?

Statistics, as I struggled with the complex mathematical concepts and formulas.

What do you do outside of studying and working?

Outside of studying and working, I enjoy calligraphy, reading, volunteering at school or youth center, and spending time with my friends and family.

Why are you excited to be a student ambassador?

I'm excited to be a student ambassador because I enjoy connecting with fellow students and sharing my experiences. Additionally, it's an opportunity for personal and professional growth to strengthen my leadership and communication skills. I am looking forward to collaborating with other ambassadors and educators to enhance students’ learning experiences using Cengage's resources and tools.

What is one thing you’d like to share with post-secondary students across Canada?

One thing I'd love to share with post-secondary students across Canada is the importance of building personal connections with professors and utilizing office hours. These relationships can provide valuable mentorship and support throughout your academic journey. Additionally, remember the importance of staying organized, taking breaks, and making time for yourself. Don't hesitate to seek help when needed; it's a sign of strength, not weakness.

What do you wish you had known before starting university?

I wish I had met with other industry experts, senior students, and alumni before starting my program. Learning from their experiences would have given me a better understanding of the field and prepared me more effectively for what to expect in my studies and career.

What do you wish more instructors knew about students today?

I wish instructors understood the importance of connecting with students through effective communication, ensuring they feel comfortable asking for help, guiding them through challenges, and being flexible with deadlines.

Why WebAssign?

WebAssign positively impacted my study habits by providing instant feedback through class insights. This allowed me to monitor my progress and focus on areas needing improvement, which helped me prepare effectively for my midterm and finals. My favorite feature of WebAssign is the "Master It" feature, which breaks down complex problems step by step, making it easier to understand and apply concepts.

How to Register for WebAssign (3:10)

Have you been assigned WebAssign? In this video, Student Ambassador Parham Mozaffari walks you through how to register.

Why are you studying electrical engineering?

I have always had a passion for physics and math, but my interest skyrocketed when I joined the robotics club in my last year of high school. At that point I realized that engineering is the best career path for me. I genuinely enjoy the problem-solving aspect of this major.

What has been your favourite course so far?

My favorite course so far is my physics course, particularly the lab component. I enjoy the design aspects and working with circuits.

And your least favourite?

My English classes, which focus on writing essays about morals and principles. I would much rather work with numbers all day than write essays.

What do you do outside of studying and working?

I enjoy spending time with my friends. These days we often go to see movies or have dinner together.

Why are you excited to be a student ambassador?

I love creating educational content and I am very good at explaining difficult concepts to others. I am also looking forward to expanding my network and working with people with the same mindset.

What is one thing you’d love to share with post-secondary students across Canada?

Take the time to get to know your professors and feel free to ask as many questions as you like. The instructors are happy to help and this can greatly reduce your stress and anxiety.

What do you wish you had known before starting university?

I wish I knew about time management and what exactly I needed to do each week so I wouldn’t fall behind. Also, that being ahead as much as possible gives me extra time in case anything unexpected happens.

What do you wish more instructors knew about students today?

I wish the teachers knew how to communicate with students better, like using platforms such as Discord or other online apps that allow everyone to ask questions and get answers. If they are using WebAssign, I also ask them not to reduce the number of submissions allowed for each question. Having three attempts really allows students to learn the concepts.

Why WebAssign?

When I first started using WebAssign, I saw it as just a tool to complete my assignments. I didn't realize its potential for studying. As I learned more about what WebAssign has to offer to students, I got more interested and now I use WebAssign to be more productive. I really like the practice questions for each chapter. I can check my answers and more efficiently learn each concept.
