Dr. Sarah Orton studied pharmacology (BSc) at McMaster University in Ontario, then completed her PhD in Clinical Medicine at the University of Oxford, UK. She is an Assistant Professor at Mount Royal University, Calgary, Canada. Her main research focus is in multiple sclerosis, including gender differences and the impact of vitamin D. Other areas of research interest include epigenetic transmission, women's reproductive health and assisted reproduction. Sarah teaches various biology courses in anatomy, physiology, cellular/molecular biology, and human conception (Assisted Reproductive Technology). Having always been passionate about teaching, she loves the student-centered focus of undergraduate teaching at MRU. Outside of academics, Sarah enjoys playing various sports and travelling.
